The Red House is a psychological thriller that shares with us the twisted tale of the abandoned farmhouse that lies hidden in the depths of the nearby woods. Handicapped farmer, Pete Morgan, and his spinster sister, Ellen, live on their isolated farm, raising Meg. Meg is their grandchild, whom they have cared for since her mother, their own daughter, abandoned Meg.
Pete (played by Edward G. Robinson) is crippled with a wooden leg and needs some help managing the farm so the teenage Meg convinces him to hire her friend Nath Storm as a kind of farm hand. Once Nath was finished with his chores he said that he was going to take a shortcut home, through the old woods on the Morgan's property. Upon hearing this, Pete warns him not to take that road as the old woods are dangerous and deep within there is a haunted house. A house that is painted red.
But once a child's curiosity is aroused, it cannot be put back to sleep. Nath and Meg decide that they must see this red house for themselves.
