THE STORY of The Last Man on Earth is a delightful surprise. The prince of darkness himself, Vincent Price, survives the plague that decimates the rest of mankind and he now lives a life filled with lonely days of fighting for survival. And vampire killing. That's right, the deadly disease that ravages the rest of humanity actually turned them into fearsome vampires intent on killing Price. If you are like me then you will have your own movie library that has the movies you just must have. For me, and many others like me, this Vincent Price classic is an essential so don't cheat yourself out of having it. Low price for a great movie that you will watch over and over again. My wife loves doing 'movie marathon night' where we watch This movie, The Omega Man, with the great Charlton Heston, and then I Am Legend with Will Smith. It's a fun night, especially with me complaining about I Am Legend not being as good as the other two movies and my wife goading me on. Try it at your home and see how it goes. The Omega Man & I am Legend DOUBLE FEATURE DVD SET. For my birthday some years ago, a friend of mine was thoughtful enough to buy me the DVD of The Omega Man, a movie that I have been enjoying since I was a very young lad (nice parenting mom!) I watch it on a regular basis and include it in my 'must have' list of films for my personal library. Omega Man is based on the same Richard Matheson book as The Last Man On Earth, Heston's version is a little more action film than Vincent Price's. Heston wields a fierce machine gun in his desperate fight for survival but, unlike Price, he has some other surprises in store.
Will Smith's I Am Legend didn't impress me very much but I have heard a number of people say that they liked it so here's your chance to have them both, two movies for the price of one.
The Book. Now this I have to highly recommend. It's a good read and, even if you aren't a reader, I have a solution for that too. Many years ago I was working at an office at night with a group of other fellows, all good guys. As luck would have it, someone had a copy of this book that they hadn't read yet. Being a huge fan of both the movie and the writer, Richard Matheson, I wanted to experience the book as well. So we talked our co-worker and good friend, Ken, into reading it aloud for us all to hear. He did a great job and we all enjoyed it very much. So don't cheat yourself out of this book. Read it or get a friend like Ken to read it to you! Or you could get the audio book version and listen to it at your leisure.
